A zapatista woman from the village of Porvenir, part of the municipio 16 de febrero we visited in Feb2007 (Chiapas, Mexico). FOr most people what is exceptional about this pic is not directly visible... it is simply the fact that this woman looks straight into the camera when i took a picture of her,while all others would look down etc. , especially in this very isolated community of Porvenir.
ONly few women dare to look into your eyes, to speak up in meetings etc. Luckily it s getting better poco a poco but it is still a long road to freedom.... |
